My goal is to obtain an Associates Degree in Landscape Gardening, and to become employed by the state of NC as a groundskeeper for the NC Zoo.

Sandhills Community College Annual Scholarship
Each year the Pinehurst Garden Club sponsors a Spring Plant Sale to fund a full year scholarship for a worthy Landscape Gardening Program student at Sandhills Community College. These recipients often go on to fulfilling careers becoming successful business people in Gardening and Landscaping, many remaining in the Moore County area. Below are some of our most recent recipients:
Memorial Garden Year Round Maintenance
The Pinehurst Garden Club has done the planting and year round maintenance of the Memorial Garden since 1989. We hire professionals to power wash the brick pathways and maintain the landscape lighting, as well as a professional landscaper to perform heavy landscaping such as removal of bushes. Our five branches rotate bi-weekly cleanup, pruning, raking, and sweeping of the Memorial Garden. Along with the Memorial Garden we have a Memorial Book that is displayed in The Given Library. The public can donate to the garden in memory of a loved one and have an inscription and art work put on a page in the Memorial Book.

Weymouth Christmas Decorations
Each year the Pinehurst Garden Club decorates a room at the Weymouth Center as part of their major fund raiser.
Annual Plant Sale
Our Spring Plant sale is our major fundraiser and provides scholarship monies for a Landscape Gardening Program student at Sandhills Community College.
Village Spring and Fall Planting
The Pinehurst Garden Club does the fall and spring plantings of annual plants in various areas in downtown Pinehurst including the flag pole, the front of the Village Deli and the island between Dogwood Road and Chinquapin Road in front of the Casino Building. Each branch is also responsible for a planting project in the community.

The Pinehurst Garden Club also hangs the Christmas Swags in the Village each year. Last year we hung 94 swags. We have been hanging these swags since 1993, over thirty hers. At one time we even hand made the swags! The Garden Club also donated two Christmas trees to the village, placed by the flag pole in 2000 and 2006. The tree from 2006 is now planted in the Aboretum.
